The Painted Castle

Gardens in disorder, walls covered in layers of faded old wall papers and paint, gracious rooms divided into inelegant smaller spaces, this Schloss (Manor House) in the Burgenland Province of Austria, went through a major “face-lift”.

When the restoration approached its final stages, the artist’s talents were called upon to embellish many of its rooms with murals and decorative motifs. Below are a list of links that will give a rare glimpse into this historical landmark.
