The client’s interest in mid-eighteenth century Scandinavian design and his love of cats inspired this wall finish. This fanciful treatment is in the Swedish rococo spirit. The tromple l’œil panels improve the room’s proportions whereas the loops of flowers and twisting ribbons enhance its graceful appearance. This relatively simple device adds character and structure to otherwise unadorned walls. The cat in the frame was a copy of a seventeenth-century print the client has in his archives.
